The Shelby GT500 is one of the most collectible Mustang’s of all time. This beautiful example is an early production (#329) Shelby and is listed in the Registry. It was originally slated for delivery to a customer through Hi Performance Motors Inc, the order however was apparently cancelled. The car was shipped to El Paso Auto Center in El Paso, Texas on 7/26/67. This car remained in maintained original condition through the 1990s. It was treated to an extensive professional restoration, completed in 9/04. The engine, transmission, and rear end are correct. This car retains excellent factory sheetmetal throughout. Also, the Ford serial number stampings are all intact as is the Shelby identification plate.
I have the original Shelby window sticker and Marti Report. There were 472,209 Mustangs produced in 1967, of which 2,048 were built as GT500s. This is one of 102 Wimbledon white GT500s produced in 1967, of these 79 were equipped with black decor seats. 49 had no air conditioning or thermactor system. This car (#329) is one of those Shelby’s.
From the Marti Report:
All of this original documentation and more will of course go with the Shelby.

This is an early production ’67 with desirable center headlights.
The interior is complete, down to the correct gauges and seat belts. The steering wheel is not the original from the factory, but is a correct catalog item ordered later.
This is one of 79 Shelby GT500s ordered with black decor seating in 1967.
The integral roll bar and harnesses are Shelby-specific items. This car also features the fold-down rear seat.
The car was signed by the legend himself, Mr. Carroll Shelby.
This is your opportunity to own an authentic piece of Shelby history. The 1967 Ford Mustang’s showcased an extensive sheetmetal re-design. The 428 big block Ford V8 could now fit between the muscular shock towers.
The ’67 Shelby’s air scoops were functional, the bottom feeding air to the rear brakes.
Twin scoops feed air to the 428 engine. The GT500 came only with the 428 and was rated at 355 horsepower & 420 foot-lbs. of torque with 10.5:1 compression.
This is the correct C6AE block. Induction is courtesy of the vintage Ford aluminum intake & dual Holley carburetors. Cobra Lemans cast aluminum valve covers are also utilized.
The ’67 Shelby rides on a 108-inch wheelbase with a total length of 186.6 inches.
These are the correct Kelsey Hayes Magstar wheels, restored properly and wrapped in period-correct Goodyear’s. The Shelby’s were equipped with 11.3-inch front disc brakes along with self-adjusting rear drums.
A fiberglass rear deck lid and spoiler were part of the Shelby package.
The undercarriage is in show quality condition. The rear end is the correct “spec” 9-inch differential.
The Shelby’s front suspension featured coil springs and ball joints that were modified for flat cornering.
The Wimbledon White finish is in excellent condition throughout. The doors align correctly as do the fiberglass deck lid and hood. This is a collector quality Shelby Mustang.
